In November 2010, I embarked on a journey that would not only reshape my body but also redefine my understanding of what it means to be truly committed. Overcoming the challenge of losing over 100 pounds within the first year, I maintained this weight loss through diligent exercise and healthy eating for over a decade. However, in 2022-2023, I faced unexpected health challenges that led to rapid weight gain and a loss of my previously unwavering motivation. It was during this time that the distinction between being motivated and being committed became strikingly clear to me. Recommitting to my journey, I managed to shed the weight once again. This experience has ignited a reflection on how the principles of commitment can transcend personal goals and profoundly impact organizational leadership and culture.
